COVID-19

COVID-19 Older Adult Resources

Our lives have been severely disrupted by the public health concern that COVID-19 presents. We are working hard to find unique and innovative ways to bring accurate protective information to Menasha's older adults and continuing a connection to the Senior Center which is a relied upon hub for social connection and health.

COVID-19 for Older Adults

COVID-19 is a new disease and we are still learning about it. We do know that it is spread very easily from person to person through respiratory droplets (when you cough, sneeze, talk, sing, etc.). We also know that older adults can be more likely to develop severe illness if they contract COVID-19, so it is important to take steps to protect yourself and stay healthy. Here are some things you can do to prevent contracting and potentially spreading COVID-19:
Stay home if you have ANY symptoms of illness. Some symptoms of COVID-19 include:
-Fever or chills
-Cough
-Shortness of breath
-New loss of taste or smell
-Fatigue
-Muscle or body aches

Wear a face covering whenever you are outside your home and when other people are present. Make sure your face covering covers both your nose and mouth.
Do not gather in large groups. It is recommended to keep gatherings to fewer than 10 people.
Stay six (6) feet away from people who do not live with you.
Wash your hands well and often.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

Visit this Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html to learn more about COVID-19 and how to protect yourself. You can also visit the Menasha Health Department’s website: https://www.cityofmenasha-wi.gov/departments/health/covid-19.php or call (920) 967-3520.

Cloth Face Coverings
We are so grateful for the skill and compassion that walks through our doors. Thank you for doing your part to stay home and protect our community. We hope that for those times when leaving the house is inevitable we hope you are taking precaution by using a cloth face covering. If you feel so inclined we hope you'll consider making a couple extra for others working hard to do their jobs.

Once you have completed coverings drop them by the Menasha Police Department (or give a call if you need help getting them to the police department) and they will sanitize them with their UV light and get them into the hands of those who need them most.
Patterns (no sew as well!) for cloth face coverings are here: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/DIY-cloth-face-covering-instructions.pdf sewingmasktshirt
