Strong Neighborhoods Menasha Housing Initiative
NOTE: Changes have been made for 2021, please read below.
Strong Neighborhoods Menasha is an initiative developed by the City of Menasha to help increase the attractiveness and affordability of Menasha’s housing stock. Strong Neighborhoods aims to work with citizens to invest in both them and their homes.
Within the initiative are two programs: Curb Appeal and Major Renovation.
Curb Appeal: Is a reimbursable grant of up to $5,000 for exterior repair and maintenance projects. (Examples of projects include: replacement of siding, replacement of windows, or other exterior projects)
Major Renovation: Is a forgivable loan of up to $10,000 for large home renovations that may cover the interior or exterior of the home. (Examples of projects include: a home addition, entire kitchen remodel, or other large comprehensive projects)
Unfortunately, not all projects are approved. Projects are graded and scored by staff or the Housing Authority. Only those projects that have the greatest impact on the home, the neighborhood, and meet the goals and mission of the program are approved.
In addition, all applicants must spend less than 30% of their gross yearly income on housing expenses to qualify. Housing expenses are defined as mortgage, insurance, and property taxes.
For a list of eligible projects please refer to the Strong Neighborhoods Initiative Guidebook linked below.
