Candidates & Nomination Papers
How do I get my name on the ballot?
All candidates must complete the following documentation from the WI Elections Commission website:
- Campaign Registration Statement
- Declaration of Candidacy
- Nomination Paper for Nonpartisan Office
To aid you in the process, complete the forms in order according to the Ballot Access - Checklist and check them off as you complete them.
Completed nomination paperwork must be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk, 100 Main Street, Suite 200 (2nd Floor), Menasha, WI 54952.
What should I do if I do not wish to seek reelection?
If you do not wish to seek reelection, you must complete and file the Notice of Non-candidacy form stating that you do not intend to run for reelection to your current office.
Failure to notify the City Clerk will extend the nomination paper deadline 72 hours for that office (Wis. Stats. §8.10(2)(a), 120.06(6)(b)3-2).
How do I register as a registered write-in after the filing deadline?
To register as a write-in candidate, you must file a Campaign Registration Statement with the filing officer prior to collecting or spending any money on the campaign. The deadline to register as a write-in candidate is 12:00 p.m. (noon) the Friday before the election.
