Landlord and Tenant
Landlord
Tenant Resources
The
majority of conflicts and questions about landlord tenant issues are civil in
nature and therefore can be handled at the Winnebago County Courthouse or Calumet
County Courthouse depending on where you live in Menasha.
Often
times though we get many people at the police station who have basic questions
about their rights as a landlord or a tenant. The following links are two of
the best resources relating to landlord/tenant questions. We have found their
research into these situations to be top notch and highly recommend each of
their publications. Of course all of the advice received from any resource is
based upon the Landlord Tenant Law found in the WI Statutes Chapter 704 and
ATCP code 143.

1.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection provides
an extensive review of landlord tenant law in WI with their resource “The WI

WI Way Landlord Tenant Resource Book
2.
The Tenant Resource Center provides a “must have” manual for managing apartments.
Apartment
Management in Wisconsin
Although
there is a fee for this manual, we strongly recommend this valuable resource
as it explains the relationship but also has an appendix containing many samples
which landlords can use. The Menasha Police Department has received written
consent from the Tenant Resource Center to distribute the following samples
taken directly from the Apartment Management in Wisconsin publication. We would
encourage you to compare these samples of “best practices in the industry” to
see how your paperwork compares.
