Citizen's Police Academy
Fall of 2004 brought a consolidated effort to showcase a Citizen's Police Academy . The cities of Neenah and Menasha along with the Town of Menasha and Winnebago County Sheriff's Department formed a single police academy to show citizens a regional look at law enforcement in their community. Participants were able to hear about common police issues relating to training, investigation, use of force, patrol etc. A tour of all four of the police agencies allowed participants to compare and contrast each of the departments. The academy was a 9 week commitment by citizens who attended Mondays from 6:30-9PM . The video is a small portion of the Academy where participants engaged in a role playing exercise to demonstrate their understanding of an officer's use of force. This took place in the range at the Menasha Police Department on 09-27-04 .
