Principal Planner


The City of Menasha is accepting applications for a full-time Principal Planner.  This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing professional projects, programs, and technical activities of the Community Development Department under the direction and supervision of the Community Development Director.




  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of community development, including planning, urban design, zoning administration, grant administration, geographic information systems, economic development and housing.
  • Knowledge of and experience in research methods and statistical analysis.
  • Ability to analyze data using established criteria in order to identify and select alternatives and determine consequences.  Ability to classify, compute, tabulate, and categorize data and information. 
  • Ability to exercise judgment, decisiveness, and creativity required in situations involving evaluation of information against sensory and/or judgmental criteria, as opposed to criteria which are clearly measurable.
  • Ability to educate and manage others, including acting in a lead worker capacity.  Ability to interpret the application of policies, procedures, and standards for specific situations.
  • Ability to utilize a variety of advisory and design data, such as site plans, development proposals, engineering drawings, annexation petitions, rezoning requests, variance applications, special use permits, budgets, planning documents, maps, municipal codes and ordinances, state administrative codes, and census data. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with the public, city officials, city staff, local governments, businesses, and other organizations.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with word processing, spread sheet, data base, internet, and GIS applications (ESRI).


Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree in urban and regional planning, public administration, economic development, or related field and at least three (3) years of directly relevant experience.


Salary Range:  $59,475-$72,716

Hours:  Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Tiny-Tots Children’s Program Instructor-Substitutes

Tiny-Tots Children’s Program Instructor-Substitutes Needed

The City of Menasha’s Park & Rec department is looking for subs to assist with the Tiny Tots Children’s Program.

This is a call-in-as needed position. As a sub you will be able to take the lesson plan and conduct a children’s program consisting of games, music, story time and arts & crafts.  Helping them develop skills such as teamwork and social interaction.  The class is for 3 ½ to 5 year old children.  Class is held in the mornings, Monday-Thursday (12-14 hours per week) at the Memorial Building in Smith Park. Spring and Fall sessions offered. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and good oral communication skills.  Prior teaching experience and/or training are preferred.

The City of Menasha is looking for Umpires for the Adult Softball League!

Umpires are needed for games on Thursday and Sunday nights from early May through mid-August at Jefferson Park.  Experience is helpful, but not required.  One umpire needed per field.  Starting pay is $16.70 per game.  Open application period, apply anytime throughout the year.  For further information, contact the Park & Rec Department at 920-967-3640.
