Position Duties/Requirements

The Common Laborer position will be responsible for providing manual labor, operate trucks, tractors and implements in a variety of assignments which occasionally require a moderate to high degree of skill and to do related work as required.  Functions of the position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist in constructing, repairing and maintaining streets, sidewalks, culverts, drainage ditches, sewers and street signs.
  • Perform Sanitation Worker functions.
  • Assist with snow removal activities, including operation of equipment used in plowing and salting activities.
  • Assist with pavement marking, including painting street lane markings, cross walks, etc.
  • Cut weeds, brush, etc.
  • Assist with utility excavations, installations and repairs involving storm and sanitary sewer systems.
  • Occasionally operate equipment and machines incidental to public works maintenance activities.
  • Report for work as scheduled


An ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge in the methods, materials, tools and equipment commonly used in public works construction and maintenance work.  Current work knowledge and experience with occupational hazards and safe work practices.  Demonstrate ability to perform manual labor and withstand exposure to variable extreme weather conditions.

Candidates must have a high school diploma and two or more years of concrete forming, pouring and finishing experience. Maintenance work experience in Public Works and/or refuse and recycling collection experience within the past two years is preferred.  Possession of a valid Wisconsin Class B, C and D Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement and good driving record which meets the legal and medical requirements of the CDL or obtain within three months of the date of hire.  Tanker endorsement shall be acquired prior to completion of the probationary period.  

Salary Range:  $19.49-$24.36 per hour.

Position Duties/Requirements

Answering non-emergency phone lines, enter info into Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, transcribe recorded officer report dictation, perform other general clerical and office tasks, handle lobby patrons, assist officers and other employees as needed, monitor building security system, operate TIME System computer.




U.S. Citizen; Minimum age – 18; High school diploma; Ability to keyboard/type 40+ words per minute; No felony convictions; An ability to prepare and maintain accurate and complete reports; An ability to work cooperatively with officers, other civilian staff and members of the public; A working knowledge of business English and spelling; An ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instruction; An ability to learn and operate a variety of office machines, including various computer systems, i.e. TIME System, Winnebago County Records Management System.


This position fills vacancies created when full-time employees are on vacation, floating holiday or sick.  The vacancies may be 6a-2p, 2p-10p or 10p-6a.  These shifts may occur during the week, weekends or on holidays.  The current pay for this position is $14.98/hour.

Position Duties/Requirements

This Building Inspector/Housing Specialist is responsible for receiving and processing building permit applications, reviewing plans for conformance with code requirements, reviewing plans for driveways, accessory buildings, and new dwellings for conformance with zoning requirements.  An ideal candidate for this position will illustrate strong communication skills, extensive interaction with contractors, homeowners and housing program applicants.  Reporting directly to the Director of Community Development, this position will require extensive interaction with contractors, homeowners and housing program applicants.  A High School diploma, or equivalent, a minimum of three years’ experience working in in the construction trades or related fields, and two years of building inspection experience, or an equivalent combination, is required.  Commercial credentials a plus. 

Salary Range:  $48,801 - $58,412, along with an attractive benefit package.

Menasha Utilities is accepting applications for the position of an Apprentice or Journeyman Substation Technician.  Menasha Utilities is a Wisconsin municipal utility serving over 9,100 electric customers in a community of 17,437. 

The Apprentice or Journeyman Substation Technician is a skilled trade which is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment at the distribution substations and other facilities elsewhere within the Utility and Municipality.  The position is also responsible for the administrative, technical and supervisory control involving the operation of the Utilities Electrical Distribution System.


Work involves the installation, trouble shooting, maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment located in Electrical Distribution Substations, Water Filtration and Distribution Facilities, office complexes and other municipal facilities.  Work also includes monitoring and controlling load flows on the Electric Distribution System.  This position acts as the System Operator for the Utilities Electrical Distribution System, during all planned and unplanned outages.  This position is responsible for dispatching crews and issuing clearances on the system to allow crews to work safely.

 Position Duties/Requirements

This Public Health Nurse is responsible for providing public health nursing services to support agency programs in the community on a consultative and referral level as well as in the provision of school nursing services.  Functions of the position include, but are not limited to: 

  • Developing and prioritizing programs and interventions to promote, maintain or restore health and prevent illness.
  • Systematically collecting, recording and analyzing data regarding the community, family and individual. 
  • Conducting home visits resulting from referrals made by local community and state agencies. 
  • Determining the needs of individuals and families in the areas of maternal and child health, developmental disability, geriatrics and related areas. 
  • Providing public health nursing services in homes, clinics and schools; demonstrate nursing care that may be safely assumed by others. 
  • Advising and assisting individuals and families in carrying out recommendations made by a physician, and in making the necessary adaptations so that the treatment regimen can be followed. 
  • Conducting school visits during school sessions, administer hearing, vision and tuberculin tests, administering first aid care to students and school staff and providing advice to students and parents in regards to injury and illness. 

An ideal candidate for this position will have the knowledge and skill in current nursing practice, knowledge and skill in the application of the principles and procedures of public health and school nursing, illustrate strong communication skills, have the ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, initiative, and good judgment in dealing with people.  Reporting directly to the Director of Public Health, this position will require extensive interaction with the nursing staff, school staff, Senior Center and community families.  A four-year college or university degree with major course work in nursing, including or supplemented by courses in public health nursing is required.

Salary Range:  $26.89-$32.92 per hour, along with pro-rated benefits.

Tiny-Tots Children’s Program Instructor-Substitutes

Tiny-Tots Children’s Program Instructor-Substitutes Needed

The City of Menasha’s Park & Rec department is looking for subs to assist with the Tiny Tots Children’s Program.

This is a call-in-as needed position. As a sub you will be able to take the lesson plan and conduct a children’s program consisting of games, music, story time and arts & crafts.  Helping them develop skills such as teamwork and social interaction.  The class is for 3 ½ to 5 year old children.  Class is held in the mornings, Monday-Thursday (12-14 hours per week) at the Memorial Building in Smith Park. Spring and Fall sessions offered. Candidates must demonstrate initiative and good oral communication skills.  Prior teaching experience and/or training are preferred.

The City of Menasha is looking for Umpires for the Adult Softball League!

Umpires are needed for games on Thursday and Sunday nights from early May through mid-August at Jefferson Park.  Experience is helpful, but not required.  One umpire needed per field.  Starting pay is $16.70 per game.  Open application period, apply anytime throughout the year.  For further information, contact the Park & Rec Department at 920-967-3640.
