The City of Menasha Personnel Department is responsible for all aspects of
Human Resources. This includes payroll, hiring, labor negotiations, FMLA,
ADA, Section
125, Deferred Compensation, health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement
accounting, training, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation
and support for Department Heads. A specific listing of the duties is contained
in Sec. 2-3-7 of the Menasha Code of Ordinances.
The Personnel Department oversees the Safety Committee. The Personnel Director
is also the City Attorney and Risk Manager.
The City does not solicit resumes nor retain unsolicited resumes. Interested
parties can file an Employment
Inquiry Form. Applications and job notices will be sent to all persons who
have completed this form. This form can be downloaded from this website. As
these are current for a calendar year only, it should be renewed every year.
The Police Department and Fire Department compile an eligibility list for vacancies.
Questions regarding these eligibility lists can be directed to those departments.
Their websites are linked to this one. Advertisements of City vacancies generally
appear in the Post-Crescent on Sundays. The City is an affirmative action employer.
Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
In general, the City’s wage scale is competitive. For unionized positions,
the comparable communities include the Cities of Neenah, Kaukauna, De Pere,
Two Rivers and the Town of Menasha if relevant. For non-unionized positions,
the salary range is an amalgam of comparable salaries from medium and large
communities from Green Bay to West Bend and other comparably sized communities
throughout Wisconsin. Given the nature of public employment, it is sometimes
quite difficult to compare positions by name only.
Fringe benefits for City positions include generous sick leave and vacation
schedules, health, dental, and vision insurance, a section 125 plan, participation
in the
Wisconsin retirement System, and a deferred compensation program. Specific questions
can be directed to the Personnel staff. Updated job descriptions are available
for almost every position.
The City has three labor unions. The Street, Park & Sanitation Departments
are represented as Local 1035, AFL-CIO; the City Hall and Police Support Staff
are represented as Local 1035-B, AFL-CIO; and the Police Department is represented
as Local 603 AFL-CIO. The City of Menasha Fire Department consolidated
with the City of Neenah Fire Department in 2003 and created a joint Neenah-Menasha
Fire Rescue Department. The firefighters are represented as Local 275 I.A.F.F.
