Smith Park Winter Gala

Fun for all ages at Smith Park and the

Memorial Building from 10:30 AM-3:30 PM

Mark your calendar now for a fun family event! Featured activities include a 4-hole winter golf experience, snow sculpting, a youth cross country ski lesson, painting a large scale art mural, and storytelling. Free complimentary hot chocolate, cookies and chili will be served.

Golfing will be held from 12:30 - 3:00 PM starting from the Memorial Building, located in Smith Park. Free to all players, 4 age categories, cool flamingo trophies.

Snow sculpting is a great small group or family activity and is a low key, just for fun competition. Professional sculptors will also be on hand to help out as needed. Registration forms are available from both the Menasha Parks and Recreation Department and Menasha Library and HERE. Cost is free but groups must register by February 1. Sculpting can begin at noon on Friday, February 3 and continue until 3:00 PM Saturday, February 4 followed by judging and award presentation.

Children ages 5-14 are welcome to paint a large winter landscape mural from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM in the Memorial Building; all supplies will be provided. Storytelling will take place at 1:00 PM in the Memorial Building.

Children ages 4-14 are welcome to try skiing. A 45-minute lesson will be held at 2:00 PM. Cost is only $5.00 and includes equipment. Call 967-3641 by Thursday, February 2 to reserve your spot. Fee is payable the day of class. You must register for this class.

The event will be held regardless of snow conditions.

This event is sponsored by the Menasha Parks and Recreation Department, Menasha Public Library and Doty Island Development Corporation with assistance from the Neenah/Menasha YMCA.

The Winter/Spring Activity Guide has been mailed.  Program registration may be done in person at our office Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., by mail or on-line through Active.com.

Open Gym set to Begin

Wednesday, November 3

at the Menasha High School Fieldhouse

6:30-9:30 p.m. Basketball players and walkers welcome.
$1.00 per person, per night payable at the fieldhouse.

Open Gym runs Wednesdays November 2 through February 29

(closed for holidays 11/23, 12/21, 12/28)

Ice Rink Attendants

Applications are now being accepted for what is expected to be 2-3 openings to work at the Hart Park skating rink and shelter.  Weekday and weekend hours available.  Attendants average approximately 4-12 hours per week.  Work is expected to begin around December 21 and continue for 6-8 weeks. 

Applications available from the Personnel Department, 3rd floor City Hall, or on the City's website under Personnel department page.

Tom Konetzke and George Korth (not pictured) were honored for their many years of service on the Parks and Recreation Board Board Chairman Dick Sturm presents  Tom Konetzke with a "Key to the Parks" resolution plaque at the December 8 joint meeting of the City of Menasha, City of Neenah and Town of Menasha Parks Commission/Board held at the Whiting Boathouse in Neenah.
