The overall mission of public health is to fulfill society's interest in assuring
the conditions in which people can be healthy. Your city health department
works to accomplish this mission by: 1) diagnosing and investigating health
problems and hazards; 2) linking people to needed personal health services
and assuring the provision of health care when it is unavailable; 3) informing
and educating the public about health issues; 4) monitoring the health status
in the community to identify health problems and needs; and 5) enforcing laws,
rules, and regulations that protect the public's health and safety. The Department
of Health and Family Services has determined the Menasha Health Department
to be a Level 3 health department (highest level) capable of providing all
necessary services to meet the needs of its residents.
The Menasha Health Department has three main program areas to meet the needs
of the residents in Menasha. The Public Health Director oversees the operations
in the health department and at the Menasha Senior Center. A brief summary
of each program follows:
Public Health Program

includes communicable disease control.
School Health Program

comprehensive
school health services to students and staff.
Environmental Health Program

and controls human health hazards through a variety of inspection services.
Senior Center

of activities and health education/screening services for the 55 and
older population.
Mission Statement
